140th Celebrations

 

A celebration dinner honoring the founders of Regis College, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston hosted by Campus Ministry, SGA, and SP&L.

An appreciation Mass at Matignon High School was held celebrating 140 years of Sisters of St. Joseph presence in Boston.

On May 7, 2014, we welcomed Cardinal Seán O’Malley and our brother priests and brothers to continue our celebration of our 140 year of presence in the Archdiocese of Boston.p>

On May 3, 2014, the students of the Jackson-Walnut Park Schools celebrated the Sisters of St. Joseph 140th Anniversary. All sisters were honored and blessed during a Mass at Our Lady's Parish. The children told and illustrated the history of the sisters. See the wonderful presentation by the JWP students below.

On March 16, 2014, Arlington Catholic High School honored past and present Sisters of St. Joseph in celebration of their 140th year in Boston. Following a mass at St. Agnes, sisters walked to the high school to view a wall of memories designed by Arlington Catholic alumnae Donna LaValle Rockwell, the images provided by Sister Mary Rita Grady, CSJ Archivist. Sister Frances Agnes Blake was honored for being the only living founding member of the Arlington Catholic School, which opened in 1960. Sister Mary Scanlon was honored for being the longest serving Sister of St. Joseph at Arlington Catholic and Sister Cathy Clifford was honored for being Arlington Catholic’s principal for 19 years. Also acknowledged was Sister Catherine Nevin and Sister Barbara McHugh, who presently minister at Arlington Catholic.

On October 6, 2013, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston celebrated 140 years of ministry with a Mass at St. Agatha Parish in Milton, MA. Rosemary Brennan, CSJ, president of the Sisters of St. Joseph stated, "It's good to take time out to remember what was and think about the future together." She continued, "We've all adjusted to changes and grown and developed in new ways none of us would have imagined."

On Wednesday, October 2, the Saint Joseph Prep Choir entertained nearly 50 Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston with a unique rendition of "Happy Birthday." The students sang the song in three different languages, English, Korean and French.
