While participating in several events this year designed to celebrate our 140 years of ministry in the Boston area and beyond, I encountered many people who shared memorable stories of their interactions with our sisters over the years. These moved them to become loving and generous benefactors to us.
They spoke of a sister who not only drove a family of several children home from school each day, as they lived at a significant distance, but also provided these children with snacks purchased from her own small stipend. Others recalled the sisters’ compassionate and stabilizing influence when their families in crisis were disintegrating. And neighbors shared their gratitude for a revitalized locale when the sisters became a welcoming and permanent presence among them.
The generous support offered to us by these grateful donors and others like you continues to impact, in a positive way, our ability to live out our dream, our commitment, our mission of “connecting neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God,” all the while caring for our elderly, frail, sickly members and those currently engaged in ministry. You know that we are addressing the needs of newcomers to this country with literacy and citizenship as well as confronting the issues of poverty, trafficking, separation of families, and a lack of resources that are especially detrimental to women these days.
Please consider making a gift to this Appeal which will assist us in all of these areas. Your gift will be greatly appreciated, carefully stewarded and thoughtfully used. I look forward to being able to meet the challenges of the next chapter in our history with your prayers and support. Thank you!
